Special talk on ‘Peace of Mind’ organised by Department of Sociology, NBBGC

A special talk on ‘Peace of Mind’, the importance of teacher, values of life, forgiveness and other minor topics was given by Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dawa, a non-sectarian Dharma master from Boudha, Nepal. All honours students from the Department of Sociology attended the talk and also engaged in an interaction with the guest speaker.

The welcome speech was given by Dr. Nancy C. Lhasungpa, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, NBBGC followed by offering of khadas to the guest speaker by Mrs. Sonam C. Bhutia, Head, Department of Sociology. The speaker gave a hour long talk on the values that guide individuals for a happy, content and confident future. Students were guided to focus on achieving a calm, clear-headed state by managing internal and external stressors, rather than eliminating all challenges. He advised all young persons in the room to accept their current situation, find contentment from within, and to consciously choose calm, rational responses to difficulties which can improve focus, creativity and overall well-being.

The programme concluded with offering of a handmade crochet bouquet to the guest speaker by the Head, Department of Sociology.
