The Department of Zoology, NBBGC, organised an academic exchange program titled “Biotech Connect”.

The Department of Zoology, NBBGC, organized an academic exchange program titled "Biotech Connect" on 10th April 2025 at its Biotech Hub and Specimen Museum. The program was marked by the visit of 50 undergraduate students from the Department of Medical Lab Technology, Medhavi Skills University (MSU), accompanied by faculty members Mr. Prakash Chettri and Ms. Anumika Sharma.The session commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Dependra Chamlagai, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Zoology, who offered insights into the ongoing activities of the department. The students were introduced to the infrastructural and research facilities housed within the Biotech Hub, and were apprised of the current dissertation works undertaken by M.Sc. Zoology students, particularly in the fields of Immunology, Parasitology and Ecology.

To honor the guests, faculty member Ms. Lhaki Doma Sherpa extended a warm gesture by offering khadas on behalf of the department. Faculty members Mr. John Bhutia and Mr. Jigmee Sonam Bhutia were also present and actively participated in the proceedings.  Following the welcome, the students were given a detailed tour of the Biotech Hub by Mr. Y.B. Rai, Lab Instructor, and Mr. Diwash Sharma, Lab Attendant. Demonstrations covered a range of techniques aligned with the Medical Lab Technology curriculum, including: Gel Electrophoresis, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and Gel Documentation System for DNA Visualisation.

The session offered a meaningful platform for interactive learning and academic collaboration, enriching the participants’ understanding of applied molecular biology techniques. Mr. Prakash Chettri expressed gratitude on behalf of the Department of Medical Lab Technology, Medhavi Skills University, to the Principal and the Department of Zoology, NBBGC, for hosting this informative and inspiring visit. The program was a resounding success, reinforcing institutional ties and enhancing scientific learning through shared academic experiences. The event concluded on a high note, with both institutions looking forward to future collaborative opportunities.
