Special Talk on ‘Lumpy Skin Disease Virus’

The Department of Microbiology at NBBGC Tadong organized a special talk on the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) virus on 23rd June 2023. The objective of this talk was to raise awareness about the Lumpy Skin Disease virus, its symptoms in cows, and the prevention measures for this viral disease.
The special talk was attended by a total of 60 students and 4 faculty members from The Department of Microbiology at NBBGC Tadong organized a special talk on the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) virus on 23rd June 2023. The special talk commenced with an opening address by Dr. D. Purohit, Principal, NBBGC, who highlighted the importance of understanding and addressing the Lumpy Skin Disease virus. The special guest, ADM NBBGC, also shared valuable insights on the impact of this viral disease on animals and the community.
The main speaker for the event was Dr. Sayak Das, an Assistant Professor from Assam Central University, Silchar. Dr. Das delivered an informative and engaging lecture, covering various aspects of the Lumpy Skin Disease virus. He discussed the etiology, transmission, and clinical manifestations of the disease in animals. Additionally, Dr. Das highlighted the significance of early detection and proper diagnosis in controlling the spread of the virus. Dr. Das also emphasized the importance of preventive measures to mitigate the effects of the Lumpy Skin Disease virus. He discussed vaccination strategies, biosecurity measures, and effective management practices to minimize the impact of the disease on livestock.

Following the lecture, an interactive session was conducted, allowing the students to ask questions and seek clarifications on specific aspects of the Lumpy Skin disease virus. Dr. Sayak addressed their queries and provided further insights into the topic. Overall, the event was successful in achieving its aim of disseminating information and promoting awareness regarding the Lumpy Skin Disease virus, ultimately contributing to the well-being of animals and the prevention of the disease within the community.
