One-Day Seminar on “Finding your Path: A Motivational Talk on Career Guidance”

The Department of Political Science, NBBGC, Tadong, organised a one-day seminar titled “Finding your Path: A Motivational Talk on Career Guidance” on 30th October 2025 at the college seminar hall.

The event aimed to inspire and guide students toward making informed and meaningful career choices. The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Tshering D. Kaleon, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, guest speakers, faculty members, and students. She highlighted the importance of career guidance and motivation in shaping the future of students.

The seminar was graced by Dr. D. Purohit, Principal, NBBGC, ADM Sir, and Mrs. Sonam Choden, Head, Department of Sociology. The Principal addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunity to learn from the experiences of the distinguished speakers. The guest speakers for the day were proud alumni of the Department of  Political Science, NBBGC, Tadong who are now serving as eminent professionals in various departments under the Government of Sikkim. Each speaker delivered an insightful talk, sharing their personal journeys, professional experiences, and practical advice on setting career goals, developing confidence, and maintaining perseverance in the face of challenges. They emphasised the importance of skill development, discipline, and continuous learning in achieving success in both public and private sectors. The speakers for the day were:

  • Namgyal Lepcha, Under Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Gangtok
  • Mitra Lal Chettri, Accounts Officer, Education Department, Gangtok
  • Chongzut Lepcha, Accounts Officer, Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom, Gangtok, and Department of Commerce, Tadong

The session concluded with an interactive segment, where students enthusiastically engaged with the speakers, asking questions related to career planning, government examinations, and personality development. The guests responded thoughtfully, motivating the students to pursue their ambitions with clarity and dedication.

The seminar was a great success, leaving the participants inspired and better informed about the diverse career opportunities available to them.
