Final year students from the Department of Sociology, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College visited the Old Age Home, Ranipool at 9:30 am on Tuesday, 16th May 2023.<\/div>\n

A total of 52 students along with Dr. N. C. Lhasungpa, Assistant Professor & Head, Dept. of Sociology, were present on the given day. Mr. M. R. Rai, a retired government officer and present caretaker of the Home, briefed the students regarding The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 (56 of 2007) of Government of India & Sikkim Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2014 framed by Government of Sikkim.<\/div>\n

The students volunteered to segregate second hand clothes donated to the Home as well as to carry unloaded bricks from the front courtyard to the construction site located at the back of the premises. This initiative was taken to make students understand the value of time and effort, instil values of community building as well as to give an idea of volunteer work.<\/div>\n

With this exercise, the Department of Sociology, NBBGC hopes to collaborate with the Old Age Home in the near future as well.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
